Speed Stacking for Homeschoolers
Speed stacking is great for coordination and improving strength
and agility in both hands for kids of all ages. A child does not
have to be athletic to participate and yet it is also mentally and
at times, physically challenging. This is a great activity and has
really become popular around the country.
You don't have to commit to every meeting but meeting twice a month
will allow us to stack with each other. If you haven't stacked before,
that's OK, come on over.
WHEN: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each
month, 12:00-1:30 PM
WHERE: Our home in Scottsdale, near
the 101 and Indian School. Contact Jocelyn for address and directions.
COST: No cost to participate but each
child should have their own set of stacking cups. The cups, a stacking
mat, timer, and instructional DVD may be purchased for about $30
at Walmart, Target and Toys R Us.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Your stacking cups
- A mat and timer are good to have too.
SPEED STACKING CUPS: Please bring your own set
of cups so everyone can be stacking at the same time. They may be
purchased at http://www.speedstacks.com,
Target, Wal-Mart, and Toys R' Us on-line and you can also check
those stores to see if they have them in stock. They will be located
by the board games. The price is around $30 which includes the 12
cups, mat and timer, and instructional DVD. The DVD offers great
instruction on stacking. There's also a cheaper version that provides
the cups and a mini-timer and no mat. However, if possible, it is
really better to have the mat and the timer that hooks into the
mat.
