Events are listed by date of event (or registration date if applicable). We will do our best to update the H.E.R.O. website and add events and activities of interest to homeschooling families as we are able. Please note the majority of the information will appear in the H.E.R.O. newsletter, and this is just a small sampling of what can be found in the e-newsletter.

TUCSON CITY WIDE HOMESCHOOL SPELLING BEE - SPONSORED BY CHET-SE

Tucson City Wide Homeschool Spelling Bee (ages 9 to 14), starting at 10:45 AM

2009 WINTER FAMILY FORMAL

Summit View Homeschoolers is hosting our third annual Winter Family Formal. This is for homeschoolers of all ages.

SPRING 2010 MOEZART DRAMA CLASSES

MoezArt Productions theatre/drama classes meet for one semester from January to April. This spring the middle school age classes will be doing "Robin Hood" and the high school age classes will be performing "Seussical." Productions are late April and early May. Our instructors are veteran teachers passionate about drama, teaching, and training children in Christ-honoring theatrical arts. MoezArt Productions is a Christian theatre and educational program for homeschoolers.

MINI-MOEZ - MOEZART PRODUCTIONS' ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

Kids, from 5 to 10 years of age, come and experience the arts with MoezArt Productions! Drama, Music, Dance, and Art. Each class includes training in each of the above artistic areas brought together at the end of the workshop by a mini-show for the parents! Our instructors are veteran teachers passionate about drama, teaching and training children in Christ-honoring theatrical arts.

TEENPACT 2010

TeenPact Leadership School is a great way to teach students government, leadership, and how to be a great citizen as an American and a Christian. Join fellow homeschoolers from around Arizona for a fantastic week at the Capitol.

STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TESTING

Redeemer Christian School will once again be administering Stanford Achievement Testing Spring 2010 for students in Grades K through 11. Home educated students are invited to join RCS students. Space is limited. Scores are mailed to the family when RCS gets them in late spring.

WHEN: Testing dates - April 5 through April 9, 2010, Practice Test is administered as part of this and is scheduled for March 31, 2010

WHERE: Redeemer Christian School, 719 N. Stapley Drive (Stapley in between University and Brown), Mesa, Arizona 85203

COST: $50.00 per student

NOTE FROM NANCY: It is our long-standing policy not to include announcements about events taking place through public or private schools. However, we make an exception each year for this announcement. For those families who choose to test their children, it can be difficult to find Stanford Testing opportunities, and we appreciate the willingness of Redeemer to invite homeschooled students to participate.

MID-YEAR REFRESHER CONFERENCE

This one-day conference is a great way for homeschooling parents to get a boost midway through the year. Come and get refreshed, renewed, edified, and equipped to continue the home education journey! Special Guest Speaker: Vicki Bentley

Present and future homeschool support group leaders are invited to join us for the 2010 State Leadership Conference Hosted by AFHE. This event is a day of encouragement, information, edification, and networking with others who serve in leadership in homeschool groups in our state.

SENIOR HIGH GRADUATE RECOGNITION CEREMONY - HOSTED BY AFHE

Plans for the 18th Annual AFHE Senior High Graduate Recognition Ceremony are underway. Arizona homeschooled students who will be graduating from senior high next spring are invited to participate. This beautiful cap and gown ceremony is a very special way to celebrate this important milestone in a homeschooled student's life as they graduate from high school. Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program

The Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is available to young Americans who have an interest in serving in their community. The program is similar to JROTC, and is available to young people 12-21 years old. We have three missions: Search and Rescue, Aerospace Education and the Cadet Program.

Christian Skate Night - Skateland in Mesa

Every week (excluding holidays) Skateland in Mesa has a free Christian Skate Night. All Christian music all night except for the special events like the laser light show skate, the dance song at the end, races. The manager said they'd keep doing it as long as people keep coming.
