About Us

H.E.R.O. (Happily Educating our Own) is an internet-based Christian network for Arizona home educating families.  H.E.R.O. is not a support group.   We have no membership dues or meetings.   We are a Christian couple with two daughters whom we have homeschooled all the way through. We are passionate about home education ... home-based discipleship ... and we offer the H.E.R.O. website and e-newsletter as a ministry to other parents who are dedicated to teaching their own children themselves at home.

The purpose of H.E.R.O. is to connect home educating families and to provide a place for them to share information with one another.   We accomplish this primarily through e-mail newsletters that are sent out once a week to our subscribers.  Our desire is to bless and support fellow homeschooling parents.

H.E.R.O. does not organize or supervise activities, field trips, classes, etc.  Most of the information is sent to us by our subscribers.  The e-mail newsletters and the website contain information about local events and activities, field trips, resources, discounts and deals, supplementary/enrichment classes, seminars, and more.  The website is updated as often as time allows, but does not include all of the information published in the weekly e-newseltter.

IMPORTANT NOTE:: The H.E.R.O. e-mail list is specifically for parents who are teaching one or more of their children themselves at home (including those with young children who are planning to homeschool).  It is NOT intended for parents of public or private school students including students enrolled in virtual academies (public school) or community schools (private school), even if part of the child's work is done at home. Grandparents who are assisting and supporting their adult children in homeschooling their grandchildren are welcome to subscribe as well.

You must be an Arizona homeschooling parent in compliance with A.R.S. §15-802 to join the HERO e-mail newsletter list.

(Arizona parents whose children are very young who are planning to homeschool in accordance with ARS §15-802 may also sign up. Grandparents who are assisting and supporting their adult children in homeschooling their grandchildren are welcome to subscribe as well.)
